Privacy & GDPR Notice
Who we are. GP4U Clinic, Newbridge, Co. Kildare (email: admin@gp4u.ie) is responsible for the personal information described in this notice. It covers patients seen in person at our walk-in clinic and family practice, and patients who use our online consultation service.
What we collect
Depending on how you use GP4U, we collect:
- your name, date of birth, contact details and address;
- health information you give us — when you register, check in online, complete an online booking questionnaire, or during a consultation;
- records of your care, such as clinical notes, prescriptions, certificates, letters and referrals;
- messages you send us; and
- details of your bookings and whether they have been paid for.
Health information is "special category" data under GDPR, and we handle it with particular care.
How we use it

- To process payment for online consultations
- To respond to messages you send us about your care
- To meet our legal and professional obligations
Who we share it with
- The pharmacy you ask us to send a prescription to
- Our payment provider, Stripe, which receives your payment details but not your health information
- Service providers who help us run the website (such as hosting), who may only use your information to provide that service
- Other health professionals or services, where you ask us to (for example, a referral) or where the law requires
How long we keep it
We keep clinical records for as long as we are required to by Irish law and Medical Council guidance. Other information is kept only for as long as we need it for the purposes above.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and data, by emailing admin@gp4u.ie. A member of our team reviews every request. Because doctors are legally required to keep clinical records, we will provide or delete what we lawfully can, and we will reply within one month. You also have the right to complain to the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie) at any time.
Security
This website is served over HTTPS, and video consultations and messages are sent over encrypted connections. Clinical notes, prescriptions, certificate and letter details, registration details and questionnaire answers are also encrypted in our database. Card payments are handled entirely by Stripe — GP4U never sees or stores your card details.
Cookies
This website uses one strictly necessary cookie (a session cookie) to keep you signed in when you log in as a patient or member of staff. It is deleted when you log out or it expires, and it is not used for tracking or advertising.
We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. Two third parties are involved when you use the site: fonts are loaded from Google Fonts (which receives your IP address to deliver them), and if you pay for an online consultation you are taken to Stripe's secure payment page, which sets its own cookies to process your payment.
Terms of Use
GP4U is intended for non-emergency GP consultations. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 112 or 999, or go to your nearest Emergency Department immediately. Consultations are provided by GPs registered with the Medical Council of Ireland. In some cases your GP may advise that an in-person examination is needed and decline to treat you remotely — this is for your safety.
